Remember me when I am gone away. Forget the things I didn’t say. Pictures of faces, of smiling places, are the prices we pay. Our memories scatter out, a merry-go-round of how I felt at the time. This ‘one for the books’, becomes ‘one for the road.’ And all of the cups of coffee and the ‘see you tomorrows’ were pulling on petals and one for sorrows. Is it liars or clowns that control the locks to my home? Because when I grow up I always wanted to be something more than just a ‘you and me’, I was always the one who jumped from the tallest trees. But time does what time wants, it doesn’t wait for you, doesn’t wait for me. And life goes where life wants, you don’t own the rights you don’t have the keys. And so it goes… Oh my love’s a red red rose but it doesn’t matter now, and so it goes. Sounds pretty when it’s broken, but where it’s gone noone knows. So la la la la I close my eyes, try to remember what it’s like to feel surprise, to ‘I will love you still my dear, till all the seas gang dry’. But time does what time wants, it doesn’t wait for you, doesn’t wait for me. And life goes where life wants, you don’t own the rights, you don’t have the keys. And so it goes… I remember when I was ten I cycled to your house and rang the bell, you said ‘hello’, I froze, got on my bike and rode as far away as I could go. To be climbing trees or stuck on my knees? When I miss the sun and I miss the breeze. So this is me now, this is me saying goodbye to you. And so it goes. So it goes.
